Sacraments of Initiation

The Sacraments of Initiation are the first formal sacraments of a Spiritual Life in the Catholic Church. They include Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Baptism wipes away original sin and makes us members of the Church. Without it, a person cannot receive any other sacraments.  Eucharist nourishes us spiritually and sustains us the Body of Christ [an important image of the    Church]. Confirmation affirms our belief and willingness to practice the teachings of the church as  a full-fledged member of the church based on our own faith rather than the faith of our parents or the community. In addition we receive the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
